April 8, 2026 - Gibboney Nuclear, PLLC is pleased to announce a new engagement with Applied Atomics to develop a nuclear-grade Quality Assurance Program (QAP) in support of their reactor development efforts.

As advanced reactor companies move from concept to commercialization, the ability to demonstrate design control, traceability, and regulatory alignment becomes critical. A well-structured QAP ensures that engineering work is not only performed, but captured in a way that supports licensing, procurement, and long-term operation.

Applied Atomics is taking a proactive approach by investing early in these systems. This positions their program to avoid common pitfalls seen across the industry, where rapid design iteration outpaces the infrastructure needed to support regulatory approval.

The scope of work includes development of a Quality Assurance Program Description and implementing procedures aligned with DOE and NRC expectations, tailored to support both near-term design activities and future licensing pathways.

“Quality assurance is not a downstream activity. It is foundational to credible reactor development,” said Sarah Gibboney, Founder of Gibboney Nuclear. “Applied Atomics recognizes that early investment in QA enables faster, more efficient licensing later.”

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to disciplined execution in advanced nuclear, where technical excellence must be matched by regulatory readiness.
